Dyffryn Aman Climate Change Gardens pilot project

I had an excellent morning with a group of primary and secondary school teachers from the Dyffryn Aman area. We visited Ysgol Gymraeg Dewi Sant in Llanelli to learn more about their work developing the school’s garden.

I am working with Carmarthenshire County Council on the Dyffryn Aman Climate Change Gardens pilot project. The aim of the project is to establish nature friendly and sustainable school gardens in every school in the valley. Following 6 training sessions the teachers will all go back to their schools to develop their gardens, growing activities and outdoor learning activities.

Today was a great opportunity to collect ideas and hear about Ysgol Gymraeg Dewi Sant’s journey in developing and planning gardening and the environment as a core part of their curriculum. I’ve worked with the school many times in the past year and the work they do is inspiring.

A huge thanks for welcoming us with a warm fire, plenty of tea, Welsh cakes and biscuits 😊
