The wildlife pond has frozen over once again this morning 
Every year I keep a record of how many days the pond has frozen between November and April as a kind of measure of how cold the winter is – on average its between 20 and 30 days.
Already this year I’ve counted 20 days, last year the total was 5 days for the whole season! That suggests that this winter is on average if not a little colder than usual so far. There are at least another 16 weeks to go until frost is unlikely in the garden so be careful when you go about sowing seeds for at least another month or even two
