Harvest time

September is a month of fullness in the garden and the pantry with the crops at their peak and all that hard work, a labour of love bearing fruit (literally).

Despite the unpredictable, cold and wet weather this year the garden is still full of healthy foods of all kinds. The beetroot, carrots, tomatoes and beans are having an excellent year but the squashes and onions have struggled terribly without enough sunshine and heat.

Remember, if you didn’t have a bumper crop this year, next year will certainly different to this year! That’s gardening for you, you win some and you lose some – Perseverance is a must and be ready to learn something new every day!
