Happy Halloween to you all
In Wales traditionally the 1st of November was Halloween, the first day of winter and the last day of the Celtic year! People used to light bonfires all over the country to thank the gods and scare away ghosts like the Ladi Wen (White Lady)
Halloween is a very important Celtic festival! Here’s how you would say ‘Halloween’ in the other Celtic languages:
Welsh: Nos Calan Gaeaf
Cornish: Nos Kalan Gwaf
Breton: Kalan Goañv
Irish: Oíche Shamhna
Gaelic: Oidhche Shamhna
Manx: Oie Houney
The pumpkin harvest has been good this year so we’re going to carve these and eat them in the next few days … Important question! Does anyone have a delicious recipe for pumpkins? (Admittedly, I don’t like the taste of pumpkin but I hate to waste food )
