Jobs for the end of July

It’s almost August, 2021! Where does the time go? It has been a kind enough summer for the gardener after the hardest spring I remember. It’s strange how nature always finds the balance! There are still plenty of things to do in the garden and here are some of the things I will be up to over the next few days:

🍅 Watering the tomatoes regularly to avoid the risk of fruits splitting or rotting at the flower.

🍓 Potting up strawberry runners to create new plants for next year.

🌼 Cutting back the Feverfew and perennial flowers to try and encourage new flowers during September and October (important pollen and nectar for bees before winter).

🌱 Cut back the beans and harvest the rhubarb for the last time this year and then feed it by applying a good layer of compost mulch around all the crowns.

Enjoy the gardening!
