Happiness is a table full of plants ready to plant in the garden
People often think that I’m just interested in growing vegetables, but I really love plants and flowers of all kinds too
I am very excited to be starting the planning and development of another area of โโthe garden that will be full of diverse plants
After seeing Adam Frost visit Cambridge University Botanic Garden on Gardeners’ World recently, I was so inspired to see the established winter garden there. It’s an amazing sea of โโbright colours including winter flowers and various colours in both bark and stem – there’s no doubt that I will have to visit soon! I then went about designing a small area of โโthe garden here to bring some colour during the darkest and most dreary of winter months
Many thanks to Farmyard Nurseries for offering some great ideas and stocking all the plants I needed I’m going to plant:
- Daphne ‘Jacqueline Postill’,
- Mahonia,
- Erica darleyensis,
- Hamamellis,
- Viburnum tinus,
- 2 varieties of Cornus,
- Sarcococca,
- Hellebores,
- Pittosporum
Many of these plants also offer vital nectar to the bees early in the season I’ll be filming it all with the Prynhawn Da crew next week and sharing a few tips on how you can create a colourful border in your garden in the depths of winter I am going to spend the rest of my day admiring these plants
